ALUMNI WEEKEND 2011
The Faculty is pleased to be offering two events as part ofthe 2011 Alumni Weekend:
Friday 16 September, 4pm – 5.30pm
Choral Workshop
Holywell Music Room or Faculty of
Music (location TBC)
This friendly and informal choral
workshop is suitable for anyone who enjoys singing! Led by current second-year
undergraduate Theo Lester (St Peter’s), the workshop will comprise a ‘scratch’
performance of a classical work and various folk songs. An ability to read
music is not essential, but would be helpful. An instructive, but fun session
for all.
Saturday 17 September, 4pm – 5.15pm
Lecture: ‘Oiling the Squeaky Gate’
Saïd Business School, Park End Street
Dr Martyn Harry, now a composer and
university lecturer at the Faculty of Music, founded his own new music label at
Sony Classical in 1992. In this presentation he discusses recent developments
in contemporary classical music from the perspective of the recording industry.
