A LOrk is Born!

OxLOrkA LOrk is born this Friday 23 November in the Holywell Music Room, with an evening of performances by Oxford's new laptop orchestra, OxLOrk, sponsored by the Faculty of Music.

What is OxLOrk? It is Oxford's Laptop Orchestra, an ensemble of individually expressive digital performers made up of 18 Music Faculty undergraduate and graduate students. They make music with instruments of their own digital design, coded in a programming language called ChucK, played through special omnidirectional speakers called 'hemispheres', and controlled by any and all sorts of devices - laptop accelerometers, wiimotes, dance pads, and so on.

Intrigued? Want to find out more? Then come along to the Holywell Music Room on Friday. Doors open at 19.30; programme starts at 20.00. Admission is free.
