EBU Christmas Broadcast Premiere

Thomas HydeA new organ work by Dr Thomas Hyde (Lecturer at Worcester College) will receive its premiere on 19 December as part of a BBC Singers concert at St Paul's Knightsbridge. Improvisation on 'Puer Natus' will be performed by Stephen Farr, Director of Music both at St Paul’s Church Knightsbridge and at Worcester College. The concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and throughout Europe as part of the European Broadcasting Union's annual relay of Christmas music from across the world.

The BBC Singers are conducted by Paul Brough, with Stephen Farr, organ.

Tom Hyde read Music at St Anne's before taking the MMus at the Royal Academy of Music, where he was also Manson Junior Fellow in Composition. He returned to Oxford to study for a DPhil in composition. He has composed for choir, stage, chamber groups and orchestra. His opera That Man Stephen Ward (2008) was commissioned by the Hampstead and Highgate Festival. 'Though it may be too early to announce a new theatrical talent, Hyde in the meantime is certainly one to be watched.' (Opera)
