Faculty Composers mark Carter Centenary
The works of four Oxford composers, specially commissioned to celebrate the centenary of the great modernist American composer Elliott Carter, were premiered at a concert in Cardiff on 4 September, given by the London Contemporary Music Group, conducted by John Traill (Director of Music, St Anne's).
The Group was founded and directed by Phillip Cooke (Career Development Fellow in Music). The composers whose work was performed were John Traill and Phillip Cooke, Robert Saxton and Thomas Hyde (DPhil candidate, Christ Church). A repeat performance and a recording are scheduled at the Holywell Music Room on 5 November.
A very positive review of the concert appeared in the Guardian on 9 September. To read the review, click here.
