Faculty Makes New Appointments

The Faculty of Music is delighted to announce the recent appointment of two University Lecturers, Dr Elizabeth Eva Leach and Dr Martyn Harry. Dr Leach will be a Fellow of St Hugh's and a Lecturer at Exter College. She will join the Faculty in October from Royal Holloway, University of London. Her research interests are in late-medieval music, the songs of Guillaume de Machaut, early music analysis, and music and text. She has recently published Sung Birds: Music, Nature and Poetry in the Later Middle Ages with Cornell University Press. Dr Harry will be a Fellow of St Anne's and a Lecturer at St Hilda's College. He will join the Faculty in January 2009 from the University of Durham. He is a composer whose works have been performed by, among others, the Northern Sinfonia, the London Sinfonietta, the Allegri Quartet, Piano Circus, Broomhill Opera, Psappha, the Reg Vardy Band, the New Music Players, Three Strange Angels, Eos and the BBC Singers. They have also been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, NDR 3 and WDR 3.
