Graduate Composers Write for Eric Ericsons Kammerkör

Eugene Birman (right, Christ Church) and Christopher Williams (left, Worcester College), recently arrived doctoral composition students, have been selected to participate in the prestigious Tenso Young Composers Workshop in Stockholm, 10-12 October. Eugene and Chris are two of just five invited composers to work with the celebrated Eric Ericsons Kammerkör on a new piece.
Another of Eugene's choral pieces, La rosa rosa, which was commissioned by the Latvian Radio Choir this summer, will receive a repeat performance in Riga at the Arena Music Festival on 19 October.
Born in Latvia, Eugene studied at Columbia University and the Juilliard School of Music in New York, and also at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. Chris is a native of Australia, where he studied at the Sydney Conservatorium; he studied for the M.St. at Oxford last year.
