Martin Stokes wins Merriam Prize

Professor Martin Stokes won the Merriam Prize at the Society for Ethnomusicology meeting in Philadelphia last week for his book, The Republic of Love: Cultural Intimacy and Turkish Popular Music (University of Chicago Press 2010).

The Merriam Prize is awarded by the Society annually to recognise "the most distinguished, published English-language monograph in the field of ethnomusicology."
