Max to the Max!

Peter Maxwell DaviesThe Faculty of Music is honoured to be welcoming Sir Peter Maxwell Davies for a short residency during 6th week (Monday & Tuesday 15 & 16 November). He will be speaking about his activities as a composer, attending performances of his music, and working with undergraduate and graduate composers in the Faculty.

Acknowledged as one of the foremost composers of our time, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies has made a significant contribution to post-War European music through his wide-ranging and prolific output, from his iconoclastic theatre pieces of the 1960s, through to important sequences of symphonies, concertos and string quartets, from witty overtures to music for children and amateurs. Sir Peter is also active as a conductor. He was appointed Master of the Queen's Music in 2004. Among many other worldwide honours, he holds the degree of Doctor of Music honoris causa from the University of Oxford.
