Oxford at the 2008 Leipzig Bachfest

The Faculty of Music was strongly represented at this year’s Leipzig Bachfest, which explored the theme of Bach und seine Söhne. On 16 June the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral, under the direction of Dr Stephen Darlington, received a standing ovation for their performance at the Nikolaikirche of music by Bach and his sons, and by Altnickol and Purcell. On 21 June a recital of music by Bach, Marais and Marchand given by Professor Laurence Dreyfus (viola da gamba) and cembalo player Ketil Haugsand was received with similar enthusiasm.
