Re-examining the Transition from Renaissance to Baroque
A Royal Musical Association Study Day is being held at the Faculty of Music on Saturday 25 September, devoted to a re-examination of the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque.
Eighteen papers will be given, looking at this issue from a wide range of perspectives. There will also be a round-table discusion with Reinhard Strohm (Oxford), Richard Wistreich (RNCM) and Peter Holman (Leeds/Parley of Instruments).
The programme and registration form can be found here.
At the end of the day, in the Denis Arnold Hall, the group Mascherata will give a concert on the theme of Musica per una serata veneziana. Admission is free (retiring collection).
Further information can be obtained from the Programme Chair and Director of the Sixteenth- and Seventeenth-Century Music Network, Gregory Camp (DPhil candidate, The Queen's College).
