Upcoming Saxton Choral Premiere
The Clerks' Group, directed by Edward Wickham, will give the world premiere next month of Robert Saxton's Ecce Dominus Veniet. The first performance will take place on 28 October in Trinity College, Cambridge, with a second performance the following evening at St David's Hall, Cardiff.
One of the outstanding vocal groups in its field, The Clerks' recordings and performances of Renaissance vocal music have earned them a place among the foremost interpreters of the repertoire. The Clerks were formed at Oxford in the early 1990s when Edward Wickham was an undergraduate at Christ Church. They made their professional London debut in 1992, and their first recording was released a year later.
Further upcoming performances of works by Saxton include:
- Invocation, Dance and Meditation, Friday 9 October 2009 at 13.00, New College Chapel, with Amy de Sybel (va) and Simone van der Giessen (pf)
- Sonata for Solo Cello, Friday 15 January 2010, Purcell Room, PLG Young Artists, Richard Burchill (vc)
- Fantazia, Saturday 30 January 2010, LSO St Luke’s, with the Solstice Quartet
