Hope and Glory:
The British Organ in the Age of the Empire
This conference will cover the organ and its music in the late 18th and 19th centuries, and will be residential at Wadham College, Oxford.
Evening concerts/recitals will be included and there will be a conference dinner. Both residential and day rates will be available.
Speakers and performers include:
- Nicholas Thistlethwaite: Canon Precentor of Guildford Cathedral and author of The Victorian Organ.
- John Kitchen: (Senior Lecturer and University Organist at University of Edinburgh) in concert on the 1897 Willis in the Oxford Town Hall.
- Jennifer Bate: in Lecture-Recital and performance of Wesley, Mendelssohn, and others.

London Organ Tour - Wednesday 15 April 2009: There will be an organ tour to London (booking seperate) visiting three restored/rebuilt 19th century instruments: Saint Anne's Limehouse, Bermondsey and Garlickhythe. Check back for further information and booking form.
