Professor Born's research interests include:

Anthropology and sociology of music and culture; music and mediation; social and cultural theory; ethnography; music in the late 20th and 21st centuries; modernism and the avant-garde; cultural production and cultural institutions; public service broadcasting, cultural and media policy, television; interdisciplinarity.
