There are nine soundproofed and air-conditioned practice pods available for current students of the Faculty on a first-come, first-served basis. Each room has either a Yamaha U1Q upright piano or a Yamaha C1 5’3” grand.
We also have a larger purpose ensemble room, which is again acoustically isolated, and air conditioned and features a Yamaha DC7M4 Disklavier grand piano. The ensemble room can be booked for practices when not in use for teaching or events purposes.
All users must abide by the terms and conditions of use, which can be seen in full below
Access for non-music students and Alumni
If you are a current University of Oxford student, or an alumnus of the Music Faculty, you are eligible to apply for access to the practice rooms on weekday evenings (6pm-10.30pm) and weekends (8am-10.30pm). Alumni will be required to hold a valid Bodleian Reader’s Card which will give you swipe access to the practice rooms. More information about how to obtain a Bodleian Reader’s card can be found here. A charge is applicable, which is payable either termly or annually. Unfortunately we cannot extend this scheme to University staff or those external to the University. To apply please follow the link to the online store below to make payment. Your application is normally processed the next working day, after which point you can start using the rooms.
