Accordes!

Tchaikovsky’s much-loved Serenade, and the rarely heard Fuchs Serenade, will be played by the Faculty’s Claire Holden (AHRC Fellows in the Creative and Performing Arts) as part of International String Orchestra Accordes!

In collaboration with AHRC-funded Transforming 19th-Century Historically Informed Practice (TCHIP) research project based at the Music Faculty of the University of Oxford, Accordes! will explore innovative approaches to late 19th-century style. The concert is supported by the OUP John Fell Research Fund and The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities, and will be a culmination of an intensive rehearsal and experimentation process that explores historically evidenced sound and expression. The musicians will be playing on gut strings that are historically appropriate for the late nineteenth-century.

The concert will take place in the beautiful acoustics of SJE Arts on Iffley Road in Oxford on 5 September 2019, 7.30pm
