Alumna Anna Lapwood directs first live performance for the NHS Chorus-19

This month, Faculty of Music alumna Anna Lapwood (Magdalen College, 2013) directed the first in-person performance for the NHS Chorus-19 at Heritage Live.

The virtual choir was established by Anna, Dr Zoe Fritz & Dr Ellie Walder in March 2020 as a means to bolster morale for NHS staff and build a sense of community through singing. The group now has over 1000 members and rehearse weekly on YouTube. The group is supported by CUH Arts and the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Anna Lapwood (Magdalen College, 2013) is an organist, conductor, and broadcaster, and holds the position of Director of Music at Pembroke College, Cambridge. While studying at Oxford University, Anna was the first female in Magdalen College’s 560-year history to be awarded the Organ Scholarship. Anna will be releasing her debut solo album in September 2021 on Signum Records. The album, “Images”, features her transcription of Britten’s ‘Four Sea Interludes’ from “Peter Grimes”.
