BBC announces alumna Suzy Klein as new Head of Arts and Classical Music TV

Faculty of Music alumna Suzy Klein (St Hugh’s College, 1993) will become the BBC’s newly created Head of Arts and Classical Music TV in October. She will lead their world-class arts and classical music output on TV, driving audience reach and impact across the country and maintaining the BBC’s position as the UK’s biggest creator, investor and broadcaster of original Arts and Classical Music content. The position was created to see Arts and Classical Music TV commissioning fully integrated into BBC Content, as part of a new commissioning powerhouse under the leadership of Patrick Holland (Director of Factual, Arts & Classical Music).

On her new position, Suzy writes: “If my appointment represents something, it is a long-term commitment to the transformative power, inspiration and joy that the arts bring. That’s something I can’t wait to share with my brilliant commissioning team, as we work together to create the most compelling, unmissable programmes for audiences across the UK.”

Suzy Klein is a writer and BBC radio and TV presenter, specialising in music and arts programmes. She graduated with first-class honours in Music from the University of Oxford. During her time as a student, she directed and produced short films and presented a weekly live arts show on the student radio station Oxygen FM.
