Carol Jones, a DPhil Composition student at St Catherine’s College Oxford, is exhibiting her work as part of ‘The Secret World of Plants’ at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The series of immersive installations features work from a range of artists across a range of media, exploring the hidden secrets of the plant world through sound, sight, and space. Carol Jones has worked in collaboration with sound artist Alex Metcalf to bring visitors ‘Tree Listening’, an installation which will allow visitors to listen the hidden sounds within oak trees through a series of suspended sound domes, offering both the sounds of the trees and specially commissioned music composed by Jones herself.
‘The Secret World of Plants’ will run from May 1 to 19 September 2021. Find out more here.
