Registration is now open for the International Bicentenary Conference ‘Clara Schumann (née Wieck) and her World’, University of Oxford, 14-16 June 2019.
This three-day conference seeks to reassess Clara Schumann’s music and cultural milieu within the gender-aware and interdisciplinary climate of contemporary musicology. It will include two keynote lectures by Dr Natasha Loges (Royal College of Music) and Professor Susan Youens (University of Notre Dame), two lecture-recitals, seventeen individual presentations, and a recital of Clara Schumann’s songs and piano music, performed by Dr Aisling Kenny, Cecily Lock, and Cheryl Tan.
Hosted in association with The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH), Music & Letters, and the Royal Musical Association (RMA), the conference is organised by Dr Joe Davies, Lecturer in Music at Lady Margaret Hall.
