A new TORCH network, Colonial Ports and Global History, co-founded by Faculty Leverhulme Early Career Fellow Dr Yvonne Liao, another musicologist, an anthropologist and three historians in Oxford, will be launched on Thursday 8 November.
The inaugural session, ‘Colonial Ports’: Nodes of Global History?’, will take place 14.30–16.30 at St Luke’s Chapel, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter. It is open to all (registration not required).
The panellists are Robert Blyth (Senior Curator, World History, National Maritime Museum), Elleke Boehmer (English), Erica Charters (History), Linda O’Keeffe (Sound Arts), David Pratten (Social Anthropology) and Reinhard Strohm (Music). There will also be a sound work and live performances of music from or associated with the ports.
