Holywell Music and Folk was born out of a desire and passion to bring live music to the heart of Oxford. Hailing from Oxford via Galicia,Wales, and the West Country, Xogara bring everything you might expect of an Anglo-Cymraeg- Galego four-piece. These acoustic multi-instrumentalists play with verve and gusto to complement the subtlety to be found in their arrangements of traditional and contemporary music from all over the British Isles, Galicia and beyond. Featuring Jo Hamilton – Flute, Saprano Sax. John Ruddock – Guitar, Bouzouki Vocals. Siriol Davis – Percussion, Oboe Vocals. Mano Panforreteiro – Whistle, Gaita, Pandeireta, Sanding Blocks. The band have a growing reputation for originality and a superb live set, and have just released a new EP. https://xogara.bandcamp.com/
Laveroc are 5 women who sing and play an original repertoire of songs written by their talented singer/songwriter pianist, Jenny Mahler. In their line up are Susanna Starling (of Inflatable Buddha fame) on Double Bass; Jennie Grierson, Maria Jurd and Kath Lucas (from Oxford’s well- loved band, Kismet) – all on a variety of instruments and percussion. Their sound is gloriously harmonious, beautifully crafted and vibrant with lyrics both entertaining, thoughtful and pertinent to our times.
