Displaced Voices Project

January 18 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Postdoctoral researchers, Dr Cayenna Ponchione-Bailey and Dr Toby Young have worked with refugee and migrant students at the Oxford Spires Academy to create orchestral ‘backing tracks’ to their own poetry, which they perform with the Orchestra of St John’s (OSJ) alongside works by Barber and Shostakovich and new pieces for voice and orchestra by Young, Harrison and Thompson. The concert is preceded by a panel discussion at Somerville College and a reception and poetry reading at Open House Oxford in collaboration with the Oxford Poetry Library.
