Faculty Jazz Workshop
December 1 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pmFree admission
The Faculty is running Friday afternoon jazz workshops this term. It is a great opportunity to work on your playing and make connections with other jazz players in the University. The sessions are open to players of all levels of experience and you are welcome to sit and listen if you not feeling ready to play. The workshops will cover all areas of jazz improvisation with the emphasis on soloing, comping and ensemble work; in each session we will work on particular tunes from the repertoire.
The sessions will be led by three very experienced performers – Mark Doffman (drums), Luca Stoll (tenor) and Mark Hodgson (bass) who between them have played with many of the leading jazz musicians in the UK, US and beyond – Julian Joseph, Branford Marsalis, Kenny Washington, Guy Barker, Mark Lockheart, Jerry Bergonzi, Billy Cobham, to name just a few.
Each session will run Fridays 3-5pm in the Denis Arnold Hall in Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8.
Priority is given to Faculty members but other jazz musicians in the University are also welcome. There are a limited number of places and to book your place, you should contact Mark Doffman at firstname.lastname@example.org
Piano and drum kit will be available. Otherwise, you should bring your own instrument (sax, trumpet, guitar, voice).
