Hailed by the BBC as “THE Gershwin pianist of our time” at his Proms debut at London’s Royal Albert Hall in 1995, Jack Gibbons has built an enviable reputation as one of the world’s greatest exponents of the music of Gershwin. Tonight he plays a selection of his unique authentic Gershwin reconstructions, including the rarely heard Second Rhapsody as we well as the much-loved Rhapsody in Blue. The programme will also include three of Gibbons’ own compositions, including his newest work, Fantaisie.

“Hearing Jack Gibbons perform is like being at a Gershwin party, in a sense like being with Gershwin.” Edward Jablonski (Gershwin’s biographer)

“Jack Gibbons is renowned for his skills as a piano virtuoso. What is less well known, perhaps, is that he is also a composer of distinction… Every song [of Gibbons] was a tour de force, each imbued with a radiant glow.” Oxford Times
