This week's Jazz Society night features The Soundscape Project, a a newly-formed band comprised of musicians with varying renown among the student jazz community of Oxford. United in their love of jazz and especially jazz fusion, the band's goal is to provide an entertaining night with a diverse repertoire spanning different types of jazz; from popular standards, to jazz funk, as well as fusion with Iberian and Latin American inspiration. In the mix, there will be a handful of originals that they are very excited to showcase.
Band members include: Nicolò Pierini on keys, Arya Shafighian on bass, Esther Ng (All About The Groove, Gorenberg Quintet, Sisters of Funk) on drums, Finlay Dove (Gorenberg Quintet, Mambo Tropical, Papa Nui) on trumpet, and Holly Shearsmith (All About The Groove, OUJO) on alto saxophone. We look forward to a fun evening and hope you enjoy our set!
Tickets £5, pay on the door.
JazzSoc is a society for Oxford-based jazz musicians and jazz enthusiasts, from casual to diehard. JazzSoc’s jazz nights are the perfect place to chill with some friends and enjoy some great music, but are also a central part of the Oxford jazz scene and are a hub for local musicians to meet and make music. These usually kick off with a performance by a special guest musician, before they open up the stage and jam the night away.
