Toward the Dawn: a musical journey from evening to sunrise

June 20 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

£5 – £15

Buy tickets here.

The performance will run 6pm – 7.15pm and again from 8.30pm – 9.45pm.

Our programme charts a course from twilight to sunrise, seductive and unsettling in equal measure. Taverner’s mighty Ave Dei patris filia stands at the end of a delicious sequence of sacred music, chansons and madrigals by English and Continental composers including Byrd, Lassus and Tallis. Thrill to the spine-tingling sounds of Allegri’s beloved Miserere and enter into the glorious sound world of Nico Muhly’s Gentle Sleep, a haunting setting of words by Shakespeare, written especially for the twelve voices of Stile Antico.

This event is supported by Tom Corran.

‘A magnificent display of the very best kind of polyphonic music.’
