English popular song; street literature of London; music and the sea; music of the Napoleonic Wars; theatre music of the late-eighteenth and early-nineteenth centuries

Area of proposed thesis

Georgina is working under the supervision of Professor Suzanne Aspden on a project entitled ‘Of Street and Stage: The Theatre and the Broadside in London, 1787-1844’. Her work explores the intersections between comic opera, pleasure garden music, domestic entertainment, and street song around the turn of the nineteenth century.

Georgina received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Miami, where she studied under Professors Karen Henson and Melissa de Graaf. She completed her thesis on the depiction of Royal Navy sailors in nineteenth-century British broadside ballads.
