My current compositional research explores the interface between real and virtual spaces (in the context of VR headset scores), graphic notation, and the notion of the composer-performer. A more populated source of information about my work exists at jonathanpackham.org.
I am an active member of the Electronic Music Practice & Research Group (EMPRES), and am a co-curator of the EXPO series for experimental art and sound, which I organise with Nicholas Moroz. This is kindly supported by the St. Hilda’s College Research Fund and The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH).
Area of proposed thesis
My thesis, supervised by Professor Gascia Ouzounian, focuses on space, interaction and the social in the context of open form experimental music.
