DPhil candidate Lyndsey Marie Hoh has been awarded a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Music at Stanford University. Lyndsey will join the Stanford community in September 2018 as a Fellow at the Stanford Humanities Center and a Lecturer in the Department of Music.
Lyndsey is currently a Clarendon Scholar at the Faculty of Music and holds the Angus McLeod Fellowship at St. John’s College. Her doctoral thesis is on amateur brass bands in Benin, West Africa, and is supervised by Professor Jason Stanyek and Professor David Pratten. She was previously awarded a Fulbright IIE Fellowship and a Dissertation Fieldwork Grant from the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research.
Lyndsey holds a MPhil in Social Anthropology (with distinction) from the University of Oxford and a BM in Tuba Performance (summa cum laude) from the University of Southern California. In 2016, Lyndsey was a Visiting Student Research Collaborator at Princeton University’s Department of Music.
