My research interest is how East Asian countries responded to the impact caused by the importation of Western art music from the late nineteenth century onwards.

Working under the supervision of Prof Daniel Grimley, my ongoing doctoral project examines the reception history of Western art music in East Asia, including Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, and Japan, through the lens of colonialism, Cold War ideologies, and capitalism with a case study of the reception of the Spanish cellist and humanitarian, Pablo Casals.

Overseas Scholarship, St Catherine’s College; Chiang Ching Kuo Foundation; Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan).
