Recruiting New Professor in Popular Music

The University, in association with St Peter’s College, proposes to appoint an Associate Professor or Professor in Popular Music with effect from 1 October 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a joint appointment: the person appointed to the (Associate) Professorship will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship at St Peter’s College.

Applications are welcome from candidates with expertise in any aspect of popular music in any period and/or geographical area, with a view to complementing the teaching and research interests of current postholders within the Faculty of Music. This expertise may embrace a range of interdisciplinary and theoretical approaches to music studies, and may be in any musical tradition, including music for film and mass media. Please note that this is not a position for candidates who are primarily composers.
