The Faculty thanks Elizabeth Kenny

The Faculty says a big thank you to our outgoing Director of Performance Elizabeth Kenny, who is now Dean of Studies at the Royal Academy of Music.

During her time at the Faculty, Liz worked with many students across a range of genres to help them be at their best in solo and chamber performance exams. She also introduced the ‘Performance Clinic’ series, where visiting artists coach students in a particular repertoire or theme and answer questions about their life and career. Performers have included flautist Daniel Pailthorpe, pianist Simon Lepper, violinists Caroline Balding and Claire Holden and Feldenkrais expert Alison McGillivray.

Liz also set up live performance opportunities for students, collaborating with harpist Gabriella Dall’Ollio and Oxford Lieder in a performance of Debussy’s rarely-performed Les Chansons de Bilitis, and with the Kreutzer quartet and tenor James Gilchrist in a concert to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th anniversary. James has also become one of the Faculty’s visiting instrumental teachers.

Dr Peter Collyer, viola player and Head of Music at Morley College, will join us in October as Director of Performance for one year.
