Somerville Piano Festival: Mozart, Rachmaninov, Stravinsky

Launching a year of celebrating the two Steinway model B pianos in the Chapel, Somerville College presents a feast of music for Two pianos. The concert starts with Alfred and Izzy (two recent Oxford graduates now studying at the RAM in London) playing Grieg's splendid arrangement of Mozart's instantly recognisable Sonata.  Following that, Libby and Chris launch us into the height of the two piano repertoire, with excerpts from Rachmaninov's 2nd Suite. The climax of the concert is Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, heard here in the original version for piano duet. It will be a breathtaking riot of pianism from two astoundingly talented pianists who form an irresistible team.
