After successful performances in March, the Romanoff Foundation Choir returns with new concert series: Through the Centuries and Traditions: Gems of Slavonic Sacred and Secular Choral Music — an evening exploring the richness, beauty, and emotional depth of Slavonic choral traditions across more than three centuries of music-making.
Featuring works by renowned composers such as Dmitry Bortniansky, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and Sergei Rachmaninoff, alongside more contemporary voices including Georgy Sviridov and Arvo Pärt, the programme draws upon Serbian, Ukrainian, Russian, and Bulgarian musical traditions united by the heritage of the Slavonic language. Moving between ancient chant, folk music, romances, and lyrical secular miniatures, the concert presents a rich panorama of Slavonic vocal culture and its enduring spiritual and artistic legacy.
