Global South Film Society and Oxford Chinese Students and Scholars Association is presenting the UK special screening of White Snake, a thousand-year-old Chinese legend about the love between a snake spirit and a human. Combining the beauty of Cantonese Opera with breathtaking cinematography& GCI tech, the film has captivated audiences far beyond traditional opera circles.
The event will also feature a pre-screening introduction to Chinese opera by Prof. Wu Dan, and a live Cantonese Opera performance by Bai Shihong. You can also try water sleeve on the spot!
This film has rarely been screened overseas, and this event was made possible by the original film provided by the production company, Pearl River Film Group. This event also received strong support from the Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theatre, with four leading actors of the film, all influential Cantonese opera performers, delivering video address.
