Bach Goldberg Variations: The Teyber Trio

Tickets £5 - £20, can be booked via the Ticket Tailor website.

Join The Teyber Trio in Worcester College's award-winning Sultan Nazrin Shah Auditorium, for an evening's performance of Dmitry Sitkovetsky’s string trio arrangement of Bach’s Goldberg Variations. The Goldberg Variations stands as one of the greatest keyboard works ever written: composed for a two-manual harpsichord, this arrangement ingenuously tackles and untangles the two-part, cross-handed double counterpoint, bringing alive this work in a new and imaginative way.

About The Teyber Trio

Praised by The Observer for their ‘virtuosic’ and ‘engrossing performances’, The Teyber Trio are now in high demand internationally. They formed over a decade ago, having met at the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music. They performed together as members of the Celan Quartet from 2011-2014, and shortly after returned to playing string trios - a medium which has always been particularly special for them.

The trio have performed at Joroisten Musiikipäivät Festival (Finland), Bath Mozartfest, Brighton Festival, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Holywell Music Room, Champs Hill, Lewes Festival and in a series of broadcasted concerts on BBC Radio 3. Upcoming engagements include performances at Hindsgavl Festival in Denmark, Classiche Forme in Lecce, Baselbieter Konzerte in Switzerland and Wigmore Hall. They look forward to collaborating with Emmanuel Pahud in a performance of Mozart flute quartets.

About the venue

Shortlisted for the Stirling Prize, the Sultan Nazrin Shah Centre opened in 2017 to the designs of Níall McLaughlin Architects. The oak-lined Tuanku Bainun Auditorium with bespoke seating is a beautifully intimate setting in which to enjoy chamber music. The building is the newest in Worcester College's rich history, which stretches back to the founding of the Benedictine Gloucester College in the late thirteenth century.

Please note that the Sultan Nazrin Shah Centre is located approximately 5 minutes' walk from the main entrance to Worcester College and you should therefore allow adequate time to reach the venue. Entrance is via the main Porters' Lodge on Walton Street (OX1 2HB).

A cloakroom and bathrooms are available within the building, as well as a bar where you'll be able to purchase your favourite drinks.
