The Symphony Quantum Universe for Organ, Quantum Guitar and Electronics (duration c.45 minutes) is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of quantum mechanics (2025). In this competition, Rakhat-Bi Abdyssagin implements the correlations between quantum mechanics and music. It is the first musical composition based on the applications of quantum information science and quantum computation to the field of avant-garde music and music theory and analysis. It shows how the phenomena of quantum mechanics can influence music on the deepest and the most fundamental level of music composition. There will be a brief introduction to the concepts at the beginning of the concert. Quantum guitar is a new musical instrument developed in Oxford by Bob Coecke.
All are most welcome to Merton Chapel for our weekly recital series on the Dobson organ. Every Thursday in term time at 1:15pm, free admission.
