On Saturday 7 June, the Reuben GCR invites you to Echoes and Origins: an evening of music and art, exploring the interweaving of old and new ideas in the newest college at the oldest University in the UK.
Enjoy a performance in the Reuben College Dining Hall by OXUS, a professional Oxford-based string quartet specialising in contemporary music. Their diverse programme will range from classic works by Mozart and Ravel to beautiful contemporary pieces which reimagine traditional motifs, by composers such as Caroline Shaw.
Accompanying the concert will be an art exhibition by Reuben student and artist Deshna Shah, which will visually explore the theme of repetitions and reinterpretations of ideas across history, culture and philosophy. Socialise before and after the concert (and in the interval) with a full bar service and free tasting platters.
All profits of this event will be donated to The Gatehouse: a local Oxford charity that provides food, shelter and advice for the homeless and disadvantaged.
