Join us in Somerville College Chapel for one of the most celebrated choral works of the nineteenth century, Ein Deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms. Setting not the text of the traditional latin Mass for the Dead, Brahms selected seven portions of the Lutheran bible that ponder humanity and its need for solace in the face of suffering.
We welcome back two former members of the Delius Singers who are now star international soloists, Maryam Wocial and Charlie Baigent, who will sing the soprano and baritone solos. We are also delighted to be accompanied by two more former singers in the group, Sam Mitchell and Izzy Mohan, whose lyrical musicianship will bring orchestral colour to Brahms's own piano duet version.
