Homages - a side-by-side exploration of choral and vocal consort music written by contemporary composers in response to great works of the past. From the wonderful 12 part Ave verum reimagined by Roderick Williams, a reflection on Byrd’s 4 part miniature, to the mesmerising 16 part piece by Cassandra Miller, The city full of people, based on the ‘Jerusalem’ motif from Tallis’ Lamentations, this concert includes music by Bob Chilcott, Roxanna Panufnik, Kim Porter, Charlotte Bray and Jessica Curry. Each new piece is performed alongside the original work. The Chapel Choir of University College is joined by Univ’s professional vocal ensemble, Martlet Voices in Univ Chapel, directed by Giles Underwood.
Refreshments will be served after the concert
