This masterclass forms part of a collaborative project between Prof. Gottlieb Wallisch (University of the Arts, Berlin) and Prof. Christian Leitmeir (University of Oxford), which was funded through the newly established partnership between the University of Oxford and the UdK.

The project is devoted to recover and revive the musical legacies of the many composers, whose creative careers were significantly hampered, if not terminated, by forced emigration from their home countries. In the spirit of the Oxford-Berlin partnership, the project explores specifically the neglected and forgotten chamber works of musicians who fled from Berlin (home of the UdK) to Great Britain in the 1930s.

Prof. Wallisch's masterclass seeks to encourage pianists in particular, but chamber ensembles more broadly, to broaden their recital repertoire.
