Rooms

Recital Hall

With its double-height proportions, the Recital Hall is an impactful multi-purpose space designed for creative exchange. As well as academic sessions, the warm acoustics make it perfect for music-centred activities, including movement and dance. The Faculty uses this space for workshops, masterclasses, rehearsals, and smaller performances. The space houses a grand piano and the Javanese gamelan Kyai Madu Laras. There is basic stage lighting and AV playback.

Cinema

Most Faculty of Music lectures take place in the Cinema, which seats 100 people in fixed, raked seating with optional flip-out tables. There is cinema-grade digital projection (HD or 4K) and a surround sound audio system calibrated for the space.

Seminar rooms

Seminar rooms 204 and 205 are used for smaller teaching activity. They are located in the Faculty hub.

Practice rooms

There are eight  practice rooms available to Music students. Four are on the ground floor, and four are located in the basement. Each room has either a Yamaha U1Q upright piano, a Yamaha C1 5’3” grand, or a Steinway model A. There is also an Ensemble Room, which is attached to Studio 3 and is primarily used for teaching activity.
