An afternoon masterclass with Matthew Jones, Professor of Viola and Head of Chamber Music at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, exploring repertoire, technique and the art of ensemble playing. 

One of the leading violists, violinists and teachers of his generation, Matthew brings a wealth of experience as both soloist and chamber musician. He is violist of The Bridge Duo, the Debussy Ensemble and the Instrumental Quintet of London, and was a member of the Badke String Quartet when it won the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in 2007. He also performs as a violinist with Denmark’s Ensemble MidtVest. 

Working closely with musicians on selected repertoire, Matthew will explore questions of technique, interpretation, communication and musical expression, offering audiences an insight into the creative process behind string and ensemble performance.
