Film music, hauntology, nostalgia, materialities of music, internet-mediated music.
My thesis focuses on Latin American film music from the perspective of hauntology. I explore the cinematographic representation of Latin America and the ways in which the colonial and dictatorial pasts “leak” into the filmic reality through musical practices, modalities of listening, and contrasting diegetic layers. My project is supervised by Professor Jason Stanyek.
