Wir bauen eine Stadt

On behalf of Music at Oxford, with kind permission of Schott Music, Mainz, Germany

Giles Masters (Magdalen College) and Felicity Newby-Smith (Music at Oxford) present Let's Build a Town! - an exciting music project taking place St Francis CofE Primary School (Horspath Road) between January and March 2025.

Giles, a music historian, will explain how the project has been inspired by the parallels between the 1930s and 2020s as periods of great transformation in our city. Then, musician Tim Keasley will lead us in learning songs from the project, including one (hot off the press!) co-written by local children in recent weeks.

During the Q&A, there'll be a chance to learn more about the project's historical background and how the team are working with young people to develop their skills, confidence and sense of belonging through music and performance.

You can read more about the project (and buy tickets for the final performance - at the Olivier Hall on Friday 14 March) here: https://www.musicatoxford.com/whats-on/lets-build-a-town/

Let's Build a Town! is produced by Music at Oxford and the Cultural Programme at the University of Oxford, with support from the Faculty of Music, Magdalen College and the Marchus Trust.
