Join cellist Natalie Clein, author Kate Kennedy and composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad for the premiere of 'Cello: A Journey Through Silence to Sound'. 

 The performance is to celebrate the publication of Kate Kennedy's new book Cello - A Journey Through Silence to Sound (published by Bloomsbury on 15 August). Directed by Tom Morris (War Horse) and per­formed by Natalie Clein and Kate Kennedy, Bach cello suite no. 2 will be blended with spoken word and visuals, to frame a world premiere of a cello suite by Cheryl Frances-Hoad, inspired by the book.

About Cello: A Journey through Silence to Sound: Kate Kennedy examines the relationship between cellists and their instruments, exploring stories of creation, loss, and rediscovery. She traces the lives of notable cellists such as Lise Cristiani, Pal Hermann, and Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, while also sharing the author's own adventures, from playing a cello-turned-beehive to creating a new hybrid cello for youth orchestras in Uruguay and Harlem.

Dr Kate Kennedy is an Associate Member of the Music Faculty, Research Fellow in Life-Writing at Wolfson College, and Director of the Oxford Centre for Life-writing.

Rémy Ballot and OUO Solo Players - Bruckner: String Quintet, Mathilde Kralik: Nonet

Following their successful chamber ensemble programme of Mozart and Strauss last January, violinist and conductor Rémy Ballot is joined by a chamber ensemble drawn from members of OUO to give a concert that presents Bruckner’s resplendent String Quintet alongside the work of his student, Mathilde Kralik. Kralik’s Nonet is scored for the rare combination of clarinet, bassoon, two horns, string quartet and piano.

A Celebration with Shesh Besh
